CTA - Exam Preparation Group
2021 will see a new small group being developed with Dave and Uta
CTA exam preparation: The goal of this small group will be to facilitate the successful passing of both the written and Oral examination for CTA. Therefore membership is only for those who are actively working to pass their CTA examination and have already completed over 80% of the EATA requirements.
Requirements for Membership
1) The YTCi Diploma in TA applications during their membership of the YTCi training programme. (Or if not a member of the YTCi programme can demonstrate equivalence).
2) Have completed over 80% of the CTA requirements for exam:
- Have a valid EATA training contract, and to have received over 40 hours of supervision from their sponsor.
- 1700 hours of professional development relevant to their professional practice.
- 120 hours of Supervision, including a minimum of 60 hours of TA supervision.
- Have completed at least 4 years of TA training.
- A minimum of 500 hours of training in total
- 600 hours of practice with clients,
- Of which a minimum must be 450 using TA.
- Of which at least 40 hours must be with groups or couples.
- Be active in their practice and to be in a position to complete the CTA minimum of at least 750 hours of practice within 18 months of joining the group.
- Be active in their own personal therapeutic development.
Additional group requirements:
- Participants will be expected to develop an understanding of the EATA training manual regarding the CTA examination, in particular sections 5, 7, 8, 9.
- At each group session participants will be expected to present case work related to their preparation for CTA… for example :
- Questions related to the examination process.
- Subsections of the written exam for feedback and discussion. (This should be submitted to the whole group at least one week prior to the group meeting.)
- Five minute recordings with transcripts of their work, in preparation for the oral examination.
- Recordings with transcripts and “front sheet” for mock exam with either a formal or informal process.
- Each year the group will be joined by Uta and together with Dave they will conduct a formal mock exam, with two of the group participants acting as co-examiners.
- While no doubt there will be theoretical discussion and supportive processes regarding the participants professional development and practice. This group is not intended to be for ongoing / regular practice supervision or personal development. Therefore participants are expected to be in regular personal therapy and supervision.
In line with EATA guidelines it is expected that all the hours will be counted as TA training hours except for when the trainee presents a specific aspect of their work for supervision, or when the trainee acts as an examiner in a mock exam, in which case they can count those hours as supervision hours.
Frequency of the groups: There are 8 days scheduled for 2021, the group will be run online, and will last from 1o - 6pm German time. However, if there is sufficient demand and with sufficient notice from the group members then additional days can be arranged, and if need be the group can meet for two days rather than one. It is also envisaged that these times can be flexible to benefit participants if all agree.
